Three Individuals Arrested in Manipur in Connection with Extortion Cases
Imphal, May 2: Based on police reports, intelligence-based combing operations and cordon and search operations were carried out on May 1, 2025, at various locations across Manipur targeting individuals allegedly involved in extortion activities.
Imphal West District:
Manipur Police arrested two individuals affiliated with the UNLF (Koireng) from North AOC, near the toilet complex opposite the MPSC Office under Imphal Police Station. The arrested persons have been identified as:
- 1. Huidrom Pishak alias Pi (35), resident of Khuga Tampak Meitei Leikai, Churachandpur District, currently residing at Langol Game Village, Zone-I, Imphal West District.
- 2. Hanglem Thoiba Meitei alias Ibungo alias Tombung (28), resident of Khumujamba Meitei Leikai, Churachandpur District, currently residing at Checkon, New Lambulane, Imphal East District.
Items seized during the arrest include:
- 01 (one) 9 mm pistol loaded with two live rounds
- 01 (one) two-wheeler
- 02 (two) mobile phones
- 01 (one) binocular
- 01 (one) sling
Thoubal District:
One individual affiliated with PREPAK (Pro), identified as Khundongbam Kalambiya Singh alias Atomba (19), was arrested from the Arong Bridge area under Thoubal Police Station. As per police inputs, he was allegedly involved in extortion activities in the Athokpam and Khangabok areas of Thoubal District.
Items recovered from his possession include:
- 01 (one) mobile phone
- 01 (one) wallet
- 01 (one) Aadhaar card
- 01 (one) PAN card
- 01 (one) two-wheeler
Imphal West District:
Another individual associated with PREPAK (Pro), Chandramani Chandam alias Tamyanganba alias Gambhir (42), was arrested from Lairenkabi Maning Leikai under Lamsang Police Station.
All three individuals are in custody and further investigation is underway as per official reports.
