Security Forces Recover Large Cache of Arms and Ammunition in Manipur During Search Operations
Imphal, May 2: Security forces continued extensive search operations and area domination activities in the fringe and vulnerable areas across the hill and valley districts of Manipur, leading to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and other warlike stores.
In a series of coordinated operations, recoveries were made from multiple locations, including Kangpokpi, Imphal East, and Tengnoupal districts, indicating the continued presence of illegal weapon stockpiles in sensitive regions.
In Kangpokpi District, arms and explosives were seized from Lungphou and Maohing villages under Kangpokpi Police Station. The recovered items included:
- 01 SLR Rifle
- 01 locally-made .303 Rifle with magazine
- 01 locally-made Bolt Action Rifle
- 01 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun
- 01 Pumpi gun
- 02 empty magazines of 7.62 mm SLR
- 10 live rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition
- 02 live hand grenades without safety pins and chain levers
Further operations in Makhom and adjoining Kangchup Chiru villages under Kangchup Police Station yielded:
- 02 SLR Rifles with two magazines
- 01 INSAS Rifle with one magazine
- 01 12 Bore Single Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) gun
- 01 .22 Rifle
- 02 Pumpi Guns
- 01 Long Range Improvised Mortar (Pumpi)
- 02 No. 36 Hand Grenades
- 01 Multi Grenade Launcher live ammunition
- 03 rounds of 12 Bore live ammunition
In Heingangkhong and nearby areas under Heingang Police Station, Imphal East District, the following items were recovered:

- 01 Sniper Rifle
- 01 9 mm SMG Carbine with magazine
- 01 .32 Pistol
- 02 INSAS Rifle Magazines
- 01 Lathode Shell
- 03 No. 36 Hand Grenades (without detonators)
- 10 rounds of .303 live ammunition
- 05 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition
- 10 rounds of 5.56×30 mm live ammunition
- 07 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition
- 08 rounds of 9 mm live ammunition
- 02 rounds of .32 live ammunition
- 05 .303 blank cartridges
- 04 Detonators
- 03 Anti-Riot Shells

Meanwhile, a major cache of explosives was uncovered in Saivom village under Tengnoupal Police Station, Tengnoupal District, where security forces seized:
- 08 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)
- 08 locally-made Hand Grenades
- 25 Electric Detonators
- 05 No. 8 Detonators
- 40 rounds of 5.56 mm INSAS ammunition
- 60 rounds of 7.62 mm AK ammunition
- 01 Motorola communication set with charger
Additionally, three bunkers were destroyed during the Tengnoupal operation.
