FIR Filed Against KSO Delhi President Paojakhup Guite Over Threats Ahead of Shirui Festival; Massive Manhunt Launched
Imphal, May 17: A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Paojakhup Guite, President of Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Delhi, after a video surfaced on social media in which he allegedly issued threats to the Meitei community, warning them not to cross the buffer zone to attend the upcoming Shirui Festival in Ukhrul district.
The video, which has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, is being treated seriously by the law enforcement agencies. In response, the Churachandpur police have launched an extensive manhunt for Guite, including conducting raids in nearby districts.
Authorities have also extended their search beyond Manipur, with the police departments of neighbouring states — Mizoram, Assam, Nagaland, and Meghalaya — being formally requested to assist in locating and arresting the accused at the earliest.Meanwhile, the state government has assured that robust security arrangements will be in place to ensure the safety of all attendees at the Shirui Festival. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to upholding peace and harmony during the culturally significant event.
The Shirui Festival, an annual celebration of the indigenous Shirui Lily and Tangkhul Naga culture, is expected to draw large crowds, including visitors from across Manipur.
