Kakching Municipal Council Launches Manipur’s First-Ever Door-to-Door Waste Collection Mobile App

Kakching, May 16, 2025: In a major step towards modernizing urban sanitation, the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) today launched Manipur’s first mobile application dedicated to door-to-door waste collection. The launch event, held at the Conference Hall of Kakching Municipal Council in Phousupat Leikai, marked a new era in the state’s waste management initiatives.

The new mobile app, named “KMC D2D Waste Collection”, was officially introduced by Shri Naorem Sanjitkumar, Caretaker Chairperson of KMC, alongside Shri L. Romesh, Senior Chief Executive Officer, and Shri Naorem Ramchandra, Executive Engineer.

Speaking at the event, Shri Sanjitkumar highlighted the significance of the initiative, calling it a first-of-its-kind effort in the state to streamline and digitize waste collection. He emphasized the app’s potential to benefit every household within the Kakching municipal area.

Shri Romesh elaborated on the app’s features, explaining that residents can register and conveniently pay their waste collection fees through the platform. He added that the app will also help in building a detailed database of households and their members. For now, fee collectors will assist residents with the registration process.

Technical representatives from Globizs Web Solutions Private Limited, the app developer, gave a detailed presentation on the app’s functionality, user benefits, and staff responsibilities.

The launch event saw the participation of caretaker councillors, municipal staff, sanitary workers, and fee collection personnel, all of whom play a vital role in implementing the door-to-door waste collection service.
