DC Bishnupur Distributes Looms, Sewing Machines and Solar Lamps to IDPs
In a humanitarian initiative aimed at empowering displaced families, Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam, today distributed sewing machines, looms, and solar lamps to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at a programme held at Leimaram Mayai Leikai Community Hall.
The event was organised by the 08 Battalion CRPF under the aegis of the M&N Sector, Civic Action Programme, benefiting a total of 110 IDP families currently taking shelter at relief camps located in Leimaram SC Girls Hostel, Waroiching, and Leimaram Government High School.

Addressing the gathering, DC Pooja Elangbam urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the looms and sewing machines to generate income and strengthen their livelihoods. She encouraged them to produce quality garments that could be marketed effectively, thereby promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
She also advised students to utilise the solar lamps to aid their studies and assured them of the District Administration’s continued support.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed appreciation to the CRPF for their initiative and collaboration, describing it as a meaningful step towards aiding IDPs. She further assured that such support and coordination would continue through more joint efforts in the future.
Commandant of 08 Battalion CRPF, Shri Chandra Shekhar, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to community welfare, stating that this initiative was just the beginning and that more such programmes are planned to assist the displaced and vulnerable sections of society.
The programme was attended by CRPF officials, local leaders, and IDPs from various relief camps, who expressed gratitude for the assistance provided.
