Security Forces Conduct Successful Joint Operations in Manipur; Four Cadres Apprehended, Arms and Ammunition Recovered
Security forces have achieved a major success in counter-insurgency efforts in Manipur with a series of coordinated and intelligence-based joint operations conducted between October 12 and 19, 2025. The Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in close coordination with Manipur Police, carried out multiple precise operations across Phubala Mamang, Moirang, Top Makha Leikai, Bishnupur, Chandel, Imphal West, and Imphal East districts. These operations resulted in the apprehension of four cadres belonging to different hill and valley-based insurgent groups and the recovery of 12 weapons along with several other war-like stores.
On October 12, the Indian Army apprehended cadres of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and recovered a cache of weapons from Kokilbon Leikai, Moirang in Bishnupur District. The recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, one MP9, one double-barrel gun, one .32 pistol, two live .32 rounds, and two bulletproof plates.
The following day, October 13, another joint operation was carried out by the Army and Manipur Police at Phubala Mamang Pat, Bishnupur. The team recovered one INSAS Light Machine Gun (LMG) with magazine, one single-barrel rifle, one Chinese grenade, one tube launching cylinder, one Baofeng handheld radio, three bulletproof helmets, four bulletproof plates, one rubber tube, and other war-like materials.
On the same day, near the riverbank adjacent to the Keipha Road area, a joint operation by the Army, Bishnupur Police Commandos, and representatives of Moirang Police Station led to the recovery of one .303 sniper rifle, one .32 pistol, one single-barreled breech-loading gun (SBBL), one single-barreled gun, one Sten gun, two bulletproof jackets, five bulletproof plates, one telescope with a key, one rubber tube, and other stores.



In Imphal West District, the Assam Rifles, with support from central forces and Imphal West Police Commandos, conducted joint search operations on October 13 in two separate areas. In Top Makha Leikai, one cadre belonging to the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) was apprehended. Another operation at Lamphel Super Market led to the arrest of a cadre from the Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba).
On the same day in Chandel District, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police, launched a joint search operation in L. Minou village. One cadre of the United National Liberation Front (Progressive) [UNLF (P)] was apprehended, and one white machine gun was recovered from his possession.
Continuing the operations, on October 16, the Assam Rifles, with assistance from central forces and Thoubal Police Commandos, apprehended a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Nongdrenkhomba) during a joint search operation at Tekcham Mayai Leikai.
The successful series of operations underscores the high level of coordination and synergy between the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police in maintaining law and order and ensuring peace and stability in the state.
