Over 100 Residents Benefit from Free Cancer Screening Camp in Imphal East
More than 100 residents of Imphal East availed free cancer screening and health check-up services during a Cancer Awareness and Free Detection Camp held on October 27. The camp was jointly organized by Cancer Survivors of Manipur (CaSoM) in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services (NCD Cell, Imphal East) and Karkinos Hospital.
The camp offered free screenings for oral, breast, and cervical cancers along with 15 essential blood tests at no cost. The initiative aimed to encourage early detection and preventive healthcare among the community.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Sangeeta Sagolem, President of CaSoM, said, “This initiative challenges the misconception that a cancer diagnosis is fatal. With early detection and proper treatment, most types of cancer can be successfully treated.”
Driven by the stories and resilience of cancer survivors, the program emphasized the importance of awareness and timely intervention in fighting cancer. The strong public response to the camp underscored the growing demand for accessible healthcare services and marked a positive step toward improving cancer awareness and treatment accessibility in Manipur.
