Wanted RPF/PLA Major Arrested in Imphal; Huge Cache of Arms Unearthed in Kakching
A joint team of Manipur Police, CRPF and Assam Rifles on Sunday arrested a self-styled Major of the RPF/PLA, identified as Koijam Ibochouba alias Inao alias Sumo alias Somo alias Pansareng (45) from a rented house at Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai under Imphal Police Station, Imphal West.
Ibochouba, originally from Yairipok Malom Mamang Leikai and currently staying at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai, is a wanted insurgent linked to the 2017 ambush on 4 AR personnel at Sajik Tampak.
Based on his disclosure, security forces recovered a massive cache of arms and ammunition buried inside a plastic drum at a farm in Kharungpat, Kakching District. The seized items include:
- 1 M-16 rifle
- 8 SLR rifles
- 1 .303 LMG
- 2 .303 rifles
- 190 rounds of Amogh carbine ammunition
- 30 rounds of SLR ammunition
- 1 detonator
- 32 SLR magazines
- 4 7.62 LMG magazines
- 3 .303 magazines
- 6 .303 LMG magazines
- 3 M-16 magazines
- 4 INSAS magazines
- 3 two-inch mortars
- 2 IEDs
- 1 remote device
- 2 electric circuits
- 1 spirit drum
- 1 mobile phone with SIM card
The arrested insurgent and recovered items have been handed over to the concerned police authorities for further legal action.
