CM Khemchand Singh Distributes Welfare Benefits Worth Rs 91.66 Crore to Over 2.4 Lakh Beneficiaries

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Wednesday distributed welfare benefits worth Rs 91.66 crore to nearly 2.41 lakh beneficiaries under 17 schemes of the Social Welfare Department at the City Convention Centre, Imphal.

During the programme, the Chief Minister also launched the Integrated Monthly Pension Processing System aimed at streamlining pension disbursement.

Addressing the gathering, Khemchand Singh said Manipur has endured more than three years of hardship that has severely affected the lives and livelihoods of its people. He said the government has introduced various welfare measures to ease the financial burden on citizens under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Expressing hope that the assistance would provide relief to the beneficiaries, the Chief Minister stressed that peace and hard work are essential for the state’s progress. He urged people from all communities to see themselves as Manipuris and work together for the development of the state.

Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, who delivered the presidential address, said women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, widows and internally displaced persons (IDPs) have borne the greatest hardships in recent years. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development, social justice and the welfare of every section of society.

According to the Social Welfare Department, benefits amounting to Rs 91,66,50,772 were distributed to 2,40,758 beneficiaries under 17 welfare schemes.

The programme was attended by Arts and Culture and Tourism Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh, MLAs, Social Welfare Commissioner Haobam Rosita, senior officials, beneficiaries and students.
