Six Kuki Volunteers Arrested for Resisting Demolition of Illegal Check Posts and Bunkers in Kangpokpi

Security forces on Thursday dismantled illegal check posts and bunkers at Gamliphai, along National Highway-102 (Imphal-Dimapur), between Kanglatombi and Kangpokpi in Kangpokpi district.

The operation, which began around 4 am and continued until 9 am, was carried out using bulldozers. According to a police report, six suspected Kuki Village Volunteers were apprehended after members of the Kuki-Zo community staged a protest against the demolition drive.

The arrested individuals have been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings.

The demolished structures were reportedly erected during the ethnic violence that broke out on May 3, 2023.
