33 Weapons, Ammunition Surrendered Across Manipur Districts
A total of 33 weapons, along with various ammunition and explosives, were voluntarily surrendered by the public across multiple districts in Manipur, including Tengnoupal, Imphal East, Kangpokpi, Imphal West, and Thoubal on February 28, 2025.
The surrender took place at multiple police stations, reflecting ongoing efforts to restore peace and reduce the presence of illegal arms in the state. Among the major recoveries, Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal District received two INSAS rifles, a 51mm mortar, a carbine gun, multiple magazines, country-made IEDs, hand grenades, and other ammunition. In Imphal East District, Lamlai Police Station saw the surrender of 228 rounds of .380-inch cartridges, live and empty ammunition of different calibers, hand grenades, a tear smoke shell, and military equipment, including bulletproof jackets and communication devices. Meanwhile, Porompat Police Station reported the recovery of an Enfield .303 rifle and three hand grenades.
The surrender continued at CDO-Imphal East, where authorities received a .303 rifle, a 9mm pistol, a 12-bore single-barrel gun, hand grenades, live ammunition, and a smoke grenade. At Sagolmang Police Station, several locally made weapons, including Lathod guns, rifles, grenade launchers, and improvised firearms, were handed over by Kuki village volunteers from Wakan village in Kangpokpi District. The cache also included locally made grenades, pompi shells, and communication handsets.
In Imphal West District, Patsoi Police Station received country-made single-barrel guns, a hand grenade, wireless handsets, stun grenades, helmets, and bulletproof jackets, while Lamphel Police Station registered the surrender of a 7.62 SLR, .303 rifles, an M-1 Carbine, a double-barrel gun, a single-barrel gun, hand grenades, launching tubes, and anti-riot smoke bombs. Additionally, in Thoubal District, the SP Office confirmed the surrender of three .303 rifles and a 36 HE grenade.
