Governor Assures Action on Mukesh Disappearance; Reviews Anti-Drug Efforts with NCB Officials

IMPHAL, March 21, 2025:

Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, met with members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the disappearance of Luwangthem Mukesh, along with Mukesh’s distressed parents, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, this evening.

 

During the meeting, the JAC members and the family made a heartfelt appeal to the Governor, seeking his intervention to expedite efforts to locate Mukesh and ensure his safe return. Expressing concern over the incident, Governor Bhalla assured them that the Government is taking all necessary steps to trace Mukesh and reunite him with his family at the earliest.

 

In a separate engagement, senior officials from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) also called on the Governor. The delegation included Anurag Garg, Director General of NCB; Monika Ashish Batra, Deputy Director General (North Eastern Region); and Prakash Ranjan Mishra, Additional Director and Zonal Director.

 

The officials briefed the Governor on the ongoing efforts and strategies adopted by the NCB to tackle the menace of illicit drug trafficking in Manipur and the broader northeastern region. The Governor appreciated the NCB’s commitment and emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and inter-agency coordination to address the growing drug-related challenges in the region.
