MCPCR Condemns Brutal Murder of 9-Year-Old Internally Displaced Girl in Churachandpur

Imphal, March 22, 2025:

The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of a 9-year-old minor girl from Lingsiphai, Lanva TD Block, Churachandpur district. The incident occurred on the night of March 20, 2025, when the lifeless body of the young girl was discovered around 11:30 p.m.

According to MCPCR Chairperson Keisam Pradipkumar, the most distressing aspect of the case is that the victim was an Internally Displaced Person (IDP), studying in Class II and taking refuge in a Relief Camp with hopes of safety and security.

In a press release issued on March 22, the Commission stated that this brutal crime reflects the ongoing violence in Manipur, which has endangered the lives of innocent children over the past two years. MCPCR emphasized that children—who have no role in ethnic or political conflict—must be granted immunity and protection by every responsible citizen and authority.

“Children deserve immunity and protection from every sensible individual, group, or community,” the statement read. MCPCR called on all stakeholders to uphold the conscience of humanity and adhere to international standards meant for conflict zones.

The Commission also announced it would take Suomotu Cognizance of the case and initiate all necessary legal actions to bring justice for the victim.
