Guwahati, April 20: In a significant breakthrough, Guwahati Police have arrested a wanted insurgent of the banned Meitei militant outfit, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), from a hotel in the city’s bustling Paltan Bazaar area.
The arrested individual, identified as Mayanglambam Bobby Singh, 31, hails from Manipur’s Kakching district and is believed to be involved in multiple insurgent operations in the violence-affected state.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams raided the hotel where Singh had recently checked in after shifting from another lodge in Beharbari. According to East Guwahati Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mrinal Deka, the insurgent did not resist arrest during the operation.
“Singh is a key operative linked to several armed activities in Manipur. He is now in police custody and is being thoroughly interrogated,” DCP Deka informed the media.
