AMWJU Election Results 2025: Asem Bhakta Singh Elected President, New Standing Committee Formed
Imphal, May 1: The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) has announced the results of its 2025–27 term elections, with Asem Bhakta Singh securing the position of President. The union also elected eight members to its Standing Committee, representing various prominent media houses of Manipur.
In a strong display of democratic engagement within the media fraternity, the election witnessed participation from journalists across the state. The newly elected Standing Committee members are:
- Elangbam Ojitkumar (Mushuk) – Impact TV
- Haobam Pravinkumar Singh (Pravin) – Ichel Express
- Khwairakpam Naoba – ISTV
- Konthoujam Geeta – Imphal Times
- Sonia – Poknapham
- Chanam Suraj – Kangleipakki Meira
- Leimapokpam Shantikumar (Bhakta) – Eikhoigi Panthung
- Thingbaijam Lakhikanta (Lakhi) – Paojel
The election marks a fresh chapter for AMWJU as it prepares to take on new challenges in safeguarding press freedom, ensuring journalist welfare, and strengthening ethical reporting standards in the state.
