Book on Gender and Socio-Political Dynamics of Northeast India Released at Manipur University
A new scholarly volume titled “Rethinking Gender: Women and the Socio-Political Dynamics of Northeast India” was formally released yesterday at the Department of Political Science, Manipur University. The book, jointly edited by Dr. Khelena Gurumayum, Dr. Diana Naorem, and Dr. Athokpam Marconi Singh, explores critical debates on gender and socio-political realities of the Northeast.

The release function was graced by Prof. Ch. Sheelarani as Chief Guest, while Prof. S. Mangi Singh and Prof. N. Bijen Singh attended as Guest of Honour and President respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khelena Gurumayum described the release as both a professional milestone and a personal triumph. She highlighted that the book is not only a scholarly contribution but also a call to action, intended to spark conversations, reflections, and further research on gender and politics in the region.
She expressed gratitude to the publisher, contributors, reviewers, and colleagues whose insights and support enriched the work. “This book is not just an accomplishment—it is a beginning,” Dr. Khelena Gurumayum noted, emphasizing that collaboration and perseverance transformed the idea into a lasting academic contribution.
The event concluded with acknowledgments to all who supported the project and contributed to its successful release.
