New Political Entity Announced for Northeast by NPP and Tipra Motha Leaders

Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP president Conrad K. Sangma, Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Manikya, and former BJP spokesperson M. Kikon on Tuesday announced the formation of a new political entity aimed at uniting voices across the Northeast region.

Addressing a press conference, Conrad Sangma said, “We have decided to work together for a distinct political entity for the Northeast. We have formed a committee which will submit its report in the next 45 days. We are not here to fight any political party; our primary focus is on the people of the Northeast.

He further stated that the committee has been mandated to reach out to other political parties in the region and added, “The protection of land rights of indigenous people is a primary concern. Our parties are going to merge and become one political entity at the right time.

Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Manikya said, “We want to speak for our people with conviction and truth. We may have different points of view, but we are not at civil war. Efforts have been made earlier to create such a platform. We are not here to pick fights with anyone but to fight for our rights.”

Both NPP and Tipra Motha are current allies of the BJP.
