Manipur Wins National Thang-Ta Championship; Delegation Meets Governor

A team from the Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur, met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan after Manipur was declared the overall team champion at the 31st Sub-Junior & Senior National Thang-Ta Championship 2025 held recently in Goa.

The Governor congratulated the athletes, coaches and officials for their dedication and discipline, noting that Manipur’s Thang-Ta sportspersons have consistently won medals at national events. The delegation stressed the need to further promote Thang-Ta, Manipur’s traditional martial art, across the country.

They also discussed ways to broaden participation and improve competitive standards, including the possibility of a Governor-led initiative to encourage the sport. The team appealed for the inclusion of Thang-Ta in the National Games, citing its cultural significance and growing popularity.

The Governor assured them that their proposals would be considered appropriately.
