DEAF Settlement Camp Conducted in Kamjong; Six Dormant Accounts Revived
A Depositors Education and Awareness Fund (DEAF) Settlement Camp was successfully held today in Kamjong district as part of the fifth phase of the nationwide DEAF campaign initiated by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India.
Organised under the aegis of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), Manipur, the camp was conducted in coordination with the Kamjong District Administration. Shri HL Jain, MCS, Additional District Magistrate, Kamjong, attended the programme as the chief guest.
Officials from the State Bank of India, Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL), Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), Kamjong Katamanao Long, Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and villagers participated in the event.
A total of six dormant or inoperative bank accounts belonging to SHGs and individual depositors were revived and settled during the camp. An amount of ₹3,200 was disbursed to the rightful beneficiaries on the spot.
The initiative aimed to promote depositor awareness and ensure that financial services reach remote and hilly areas like Kamjong. SLBC Manipur and the District Administration conveyed their gratitude to all stakeholders and affirmed their commitment to continue similar outreach efforts to strengthen financial literacy and protect depositor interests across the state.
