Kakching Observes International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed across Kakching district today under the theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.” The programmes were held under the supervision of the District Administration, Kakching.

The District Social Welfare Office organised the main event at Langmeidong Maning Mayai Leikai Community Hall, where 80 persons with disabilities from the district took part. Officials distributed gifts to all participants.

Seram Asha, District Social Welfare Officer, Kakching; Ch. Indrajit Singh, Secretary of Kha Manipur Parent Association for Disable, Langmeidong; and L. Memcha Devi, Secretary of Society for Empowerment of the Disabled Persons, Langmeidong, attended the programme as dignitaries.

The Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Kakching also marked the day at Langmeidong Panchayat Ghar Community Hall. ZEO Kakching Shri M. Rakhesh Singh; DI Kh. Binodini Devi; AIs Y. Lokendro Singh and Md. Hibjur Rahaman; and SGT Ak. Nando Singh graced the event.

Around 30 students, five teacher guides, 20 parents and 10 local residents joined the observance. Painting competitions and co-curricular activities were held as part of the programme.

Meanwhile, a one-day sports meet for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), organised by ZEO Kakching, was held yesterday at the same venue.
