Former MLA M. Prithviraj Singh Urges Manipur Governor to Act on IDPs, Highway Safety, and Peace Talks

Imphal, May 16, 2025:

Former Moirang MLA Shri M. Prithviraj Singh called on Manipur Governor Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla today, urging immediate action on several key issues affecting the state’s stability and humanitarian situation.

In the meeting held at Raj Bhavan, Shri Singh drew attention to the ongoing crisis of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), who have been languishing in relief camps for over two years. He appealed for urgent coordination between the state and central governments to ensure compensation for those who lost their homes, businesses, and means of livelihood due to the conflict.

Highlighting the frequent disruptions along national highways, the former legislator recommended that major routes be declared “disturbed-free zones” to guarantee safe and uninterrupted transport, which is vital for both civilians and essential supplies.

To foster lasting peace, Shri Singh proposed initiating inclusive dialogue facilitated by neutral third-party mediators. He specifically recommended the involvement of Muslim scholars, academics, and members of the intelligentsia to help bridge communal divides and contribute to reconciliation efforts.

The Governor reportedly assured that the concerns raised would be given due consideration and forwarded to the appropriate authorities.

The meeting underscores the growing demand for proactive governance to resolve long-standing crises in Manipur and restore stability across affected regions.
