Assam Rifles Spreads Festive Cheer, Celebrates Ningol Chakouba with Communities Across Manipur
The Assam Rifles celebrated Ningol Chakouba with warmth and cultural unity across multiple districts of Manipur, while also spearheading several people-centric initiatives including youth felicitation, an afforestation drive, and a swift disaster response operation.
Across Imphal West, Bishnupur, Kakching, and Kangpokpi districts, Ningol Chakouba was observed with enthusiasm, highlighting the spirit of love, respect, and togetherness. Celebrations were held at Longa Koireng, Komlakhong, Nambol, Bungte Chiru, and Waroiching, where Assam Rifles troops joined local communities in festive meals, gift exchanges, and cultural interactions.






In Kakching district, over 85 participants, including women and children from local and internally displaced families, gathered at Chingtam Community Hall, Sugnu. Meira Paibi leaders and community representatives expressed appreciation for the initiative. At Serou, students of United Public School showcased Manipur’s cultural diversity through spirited performances by Meitei, Nepali, and Bengali students.
A total of 120 troops took part in the celebrations, reinforcing Assam Rifles’ motto as the “Sentinels of the North East.”
Youth Shine in CAPF Recruitment; Felicitation Held at Khuga
Meanwhile, in Churachandpur district, a felicitation ceremony was held at Khuga on October 24 to honour eleven youth who successfully cleared the final selection for recruitment into the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) through the Staff Selection Commission. The initiative formed part of Assam Rifles’ ongoing mentorship efforts to guide and prepare local youth for disciplined careers in the uniformed services.
The event brought together officials, troops, and family members in a moment of shared pride. The Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to youth empowerment and employment facilitation, aiming to inspire other aspirants in the region.


Kamjong Residents and Assam Rifles Join Hands in Afforestation Initiative
In another significant initiative, a tree plantation drive was organised at Sorde Village in Kamjong district on October 25. Around 35 personnel from Assam Rifles joined villagers and students in planting 250 saplings of indigenous species. The event sought to promote ecological awareness and community participation in environmental conservation. Residents lauded the Force for its sustained outreach and developmental efforts in remote areas.



Disaster Averted: Assam Rifles Contain Blaze in Moreh
The Assam Rifles also demonstrated its readiness in emergency response when a fire broke out at Pangal Basti, Moreh, Tengnoupal district, the same day. A team of 63 personnel responded swiftly, containing the fire that threatened residential and commercial areas. Their timely intervention, carried out in coordination with local authorities and fire services, prevented a potential disaster.
The troops evacuated residents from danger zones and provided first aid to those affected by smoke inhalation. Community members expressed gratitude for the prompt action and professionalism shown during the operation.



Through these varied initiatives—from cultural celebration to environmental stewardship and emergency response—the Assam Rifles reaffirmed its enduring role as the “Sentinels of the North East,” strengthening the bond of trust and cooperation with the people of Manipur.
