DGP Rajiv Singh Inaugurates Bishnupur Girls Football Tournament 2025 under ‘Sports for Peace and Development’

Director General of Police (DGP) Manipur, Shri Rajiv Singh, inaugurated the Bishnupur Girls Football Tournament 2025 at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur. The five-day tournament, organized by the 08 Battalion CRPF and District Administration Bishnupur in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Manipur Police, NHPC, and NHIDCL, is being held under the theme “Sports for Peace and Development” as part of the Khelo India initiative.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, DGP Rajiv Singh lauded the organizers for promoting women’s participation in sports, calling the tournament a celebration of empowerment and resilience. “Manipur has always been a sporting powerhouse, producing athletes who have brought glory to India at the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games. Winning matters, but the greatest victory lies in giving your best and learning from every match,” he said. He also announced appreciation for SAI and partner agencies for providing jerseys, boots, and incentives to players, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talent at the grassroots level.

Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam, described the event as a celebration of teamwork and perseverance. “Our soil has produced numerous athletes who made the state proud. This initiative aims to inspire the next generation while teaching the true spirit of sportsmanship– learning to embrace both victory and defeat with grace,” she remarked.

The inaugural event was attended by Shri Raja Srivastava, SDG Northeast Zone, CRPF; Shri Rajendra Narayan Dash, IGP M&N Sector, CRPF; Shri Abhinav Sharma, Director, SAI; and Shri Gursharan Singh, Head of Project, NHPC Manipur, among other dignitaries.

The Bishnupur Girls Football Tournament 2025 will continue till November 3, aiming to empower young girls and strengthen community harmony through sports.
