Plastic Collection Campaign Concludes Successfully at Sendra
A month-long Plastic Collection Campaign, sponsored by the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur, and conducted by the Anouba Mangal Foundation, Sendra, concluded successfully today.
The drive, organized with support from local clubs, Meira Paibis, Self Help Groups, and volunteers, collected several tonnes of plastic waste from Sendra and adjoining areas. Awareness sessions were also held with local stakeholders, including vendors, youth, and tourism groups.
Key sites around Loktak Lake–such as Sendra Roadside, Eastern Lake Front, Ithing, and Karang Island–were identified for installing Plastic Bottle Banks. The Foundation urged authorities to act on these recommendations and reaffirmed its commitment to continue similar efforts in the future.
The campaign highlighted strong community participation and collective responsibility toward protecting the Loktak Lake environment.
