Sagolband MLA Releases Booklet Highlighting 3.5 Years of Development Works

MLA R.K. Imo Singh of Sagolband Assembly Constituency on Monday released a comprehensive booklet documenting the works and achievements carried out over the last three-and-a-half years of his ongoing third term.

The booklet, prepared by the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC), aims to give residents a clear and transparent understanding of developmental activities both within neighbourhoods and across the constituency. It also highlights the relief and humanitarian initiatives taken during the unrest following the events of May 3, 2023. Educational support programmes such as “MLA Ana Layengi Tengbang” and the sponsorship of 20 IDP students for free NEET, JEE and IIT coaching prominently feature in the report.

The release programme was attended by Corporator R.K. Jiten Singh (Ward No. 7), Corporator Salam Tiken Singh (Ward No. 10), Dr. H. Ruhikanta Sharma, President of Sagolband Mandal, former Corporator Kangabam Tikendro Singh (Ward No. 8), social worker L. Shivanananda Sharma, SCPC Advisor Ningthoujam Baldev Singh, and a large number of residents.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Imo Singh highlighted key development initiatives taken up during his 13-and-a-half years of service, including the Bijoy Govinda Complex, improvement of the Thangapat area, establishment of a UPHC, and construction of the Tera Overhead Structure, Sayang Complex, Tera Keithel, and multiple double-storey community buildings.

He noted that Sagolband is the only constituency providing free electricity for clubs, community halls and street lamps for 20 years, along with uninterrupted water supply across the constituency. He added that major drain development works are underway at Paona Bazar and Kakhulong, to be followed by full rigid-pavement construction for long-term improvement of the city’s core areas. Several major projects are also ready for inauguration, he said.

As part of community upliftment, team track suits and sporting kits were recently distributed to veteran players of Sagolband participating in veteran cricket tournaments.

Sagolband stands today as an example, even though neighbouring constituencies have had Ministers earlier. It is willpower and commitment that drive meaningful work for the people, not merely the positions one holds,” the MLA remarked.
