One-Day Awareness Programme on EMF Radiation, Cyber Security Held in Bishnupur
A one-day awareness programme on “EMF Radiation: Facts & Myths, Cyber Security and Citizen-Centric Services” was held today at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The programme was organised by the Department of Telecommunication (DoT), Manipur State Unit, Northeast Licensed Service Area, in collaboration with Sanchar Mitra. Officers from DoT delivered detailed presentations on key issues related to cyber security and telecom safety.
Topics covered during the sessions included cyber-crime through telecom services, the Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP), AI and facial recognition–based SIM subscriber verification system (ASTR), tools for detecting fraudulent activities, prevention of international spoof calls, and mechanisms for reporting cyber fraud. Participants were also briefed on citizen-centric platforms such as Sanchar Saathi Portal, Know Your Mobile (KYM), Chakshu, and the importance of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).
The speakers informed that victims of cyber-crime or cyber fraud can register complaints by dialing the national cybercrime helpline 1930 or through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
Deputy Commissioner, Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam, who attended the programme, stressed the need for constant vigilance, especially with the increasing use of digital devices in government offices. She urged the officers to disseminate cyber safety awareness at the community level and appreciated the Department of Telecommunication for organising the timely and informative programme.
The awareness programme was conducted for Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and District Level Officers of Bishnupur district, with the objective of strengthening cyber preparedness and promoting safe and responsible use of digital and telecom services.
