Chief Secretary Inaugurates First SBI Branch in Saikul Assembly Constituency
Imphal, March 26, 2025 – In a significant move toward financial inclusion, the first-ever State Bank of India (SBI) branch in the Saikul Assembly Constituency was virtually inaugurated today by Manipur Chief Secretary, Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, from the SBI Regional Business Office in Babupara, Imphal.
The ceremony was attended by key officials including Shri Ranjan Yumnam, Director of Institutional Finance; Shri Khumukcham Okendro Singh, Regional Manager, SBI RBO Imphal; and Shri Moirangthem Devakishore Singh, AGM, SBI Imphal Branch. Simultaneously, a local event at Saikul was held, graced by ADC Kangpokpi Shri Shokhongam Baite, MCS, and community leaders.
Highlighting the importance of expanding banking services to underserved areas, the Chief Secretary praised the initiative as a step toward socio-economic development. He encouraged SBI to accelerate the sanctioning of PM Surya Ghar loans in the state and establish administrative infrastructure to support its growing branch network.
Located about 22 km from Kangpokpi district headquarters and 17 km from Sapormeina, the Saikul SBI branch becomes the 66th branch in Manipur and the fifth in the Kangpokpi district.
