Storms and Rain Lash Manipur as IMD Issues Statewide Alert

Imphal, April 21:

Manipur experienced a spell of heavy rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, bringing both much-needed relief from the heat and some disruption across parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has included Manipur among 20 states under weather alerts, warning of more rain and potential thunderstorms in the coming days.

The current weather pattern is driven by an active western disturbance affecting the Himalayan belt and parts of north-west Jharkhand, with ripple effects across Northeast India. The IMD has specifically placed Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Puducherry under rain alerts.
