Security Forces Intensify Operations in Manipur: Hideout Busted, Arms Seized, Key Individuals Arrested

In a series of high-intensity operations across Manipur, security forces have dismantled an illegal hideout and arrested several individuals allegedly involved in unlawful activities including extortion and cross-border smuggling.
On April 29, 2025, a combined team of security personnel conducted a search operation in the Nachou Patangkhong area, between Nachou Patton and Ningthoukhong Patton Mamang under Bishnupur Police Station. Suspecting illegal activities, the team cordoned off floating huts in the area. One hut was found to have been used as a camp by members of KCP (PWG). The occupants had already fled, likely after detecting the approach of the security team. The hut was dismantled and destroyed on the spot.
The team recovered the following items from the site:
- 01 SLR Rifle with magazine
- 01 country-made 9mm pistol with magazine
- 04 No. 36 HE hand grenades with an arming ring
- 02 detonators
- 02 lathode bombs
- 01 81 mm mortar shell
- 02 smoke shells
Several personal belongings including 11 blankets, a water tank, fishing nets, cooking utensil, and bedding materials
Later the same day, Manipur Police arrested an individual identified as Khomdram Ranjita Devi alias Ichan (28) from Kwaksiphai Mayai Leikai in Bishnupur District. She was apprehended at Kwaksiphai and found in possession of a mobile phone. Authorities confirmed her involvement in collecting money from the public, traders, and shopkeepers in Thoubal area through threats and demands.
In a separate operation on April 28, 2025, three individuals affiliated with the Chin Kuki Mizo Army (CKMA) were arrested from the Indo-Myanmar border area under Beihiang Police Station, Churachandpur District. They were identified as:
- Lunkhohau (48) from Kuwan, Sangaikot
- Jamhon Haokip (30) from Leajangphai
- Ngamboi Mate (28) from Laijang
The trio was allegedly involved in cross-border smuggling. Recovered items from their possession include:
- 01 AK-47 rifle with 2 magazines and 50 rounds
- 01 country-made 9mm pistol with 5 rounds
- 01 country-made 0.22 mm single-shot rifle with 15 rounds
- 03 Baofeng radio sets
- 02 mobile phones
- 02 Khukris
- 02 Kenbo bikes
- Sunglasses, cash of Rs 630, a watch, and an Aadhaar card
