2 Arrested in Manipur for Possession of Heroin; Over 1.5 kg of Narcotics Seized
Imphal, May 6:
Security forces in Manipur arrested two individuals in separate operations and seized over 1.5 kilograms of suspected heroin from their possession. The arrests were made in Tengnoupal and Churachandpur districts on May 4 and 5.
Tengnoupal District Interception (04–05 May 2025):
On May 4, security forces intercepted a vehicle in Tengnoupal District. A thorough and mechanical check of the vehicle continued until the early hours of May 5, during which 19 packets of suspected heroin powder, weighing approximately 205 grams, were recovered from a concealed cavity inside the vehicle’s dashboard.
The driver, identified as Abdul Rauf Khan (33), resident of Khandikar Village, PO-Deul Kuchi, PS-Tamulpur, District-Baksa (Assam), was arrested. The vehicle and several identification documents were seized from his possession, including:
- 01 Driving License in the name of Abdur Rouf Khan
- 01 Aadhaar Card
- 01 PAN Card
- 01 Voter ID
- 01 Mobile Phone
- 01 Xerox copy of vehicle registration
- 01 Inner Line Permit (ILP) in his name
Churachandpur District Arrest (05 May 2025):
On May 5, security forces arrested one individual near Venus Hotel in Gouchinkhup Veng under Churachandpur Police Station. The accused, Letminthang (29) of P Chehjang Village, Chandel District, was found in possession of 108 soap cases containing approximately 1.296 kg of suspected Heroin No. 4.
