KGBV Andro Marks International Day of the Girl Child with Indian Army
Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Andro, joined hands with the Indian Army’s Red Shield Division to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child 2025, highlighting the theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead – Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.” The event aimed to inspire young girls toward leadership, education, and empowerment.
The celebration began with a warm welcome to the Army personnel and invited guests, followed by an insightful address from an Army officer who spoke on values of discipline, courage, and service to the nation. His message encouraged the students to believe in their potential and contribute to the nation’s progress.
A motivational talk by Maj Memthoi Kh. (Retd) focused on career guidance, mental health, and hygiene, encouraging students to explore opportunities, including careers in the Indian Armed Forces. The session also emphasized self-confidence, emotional well-being, and community responsibility.
The cultural segment saw vibrant performances by the students, including a dance presentation celebrating girlhood and resilience, earning applause from all attendees.
As part of the event, a sanitary kit distribution drive was conducted jointly by the Red Shield Division and Aakar Innovations Pvt. Ltd. & Aakar Social Ventures, distributing 300 sanitary kits to promote menstrual hygiene and awareness among the students.
Principal Rani Rose expressed heartfelt thanks to the Indian Army for their constant encouragement and community outreach initiatives, noting that such partnerships not only support education but also help shape confident, independent young women.
The event concluded with a collective message of hope and empowerment, as the Red Shield Division reaffirmed its dedication to uplifting girls through education, equality, and leadership—paving the way for a stronger, inclusive future.
