MPSC Clarifies Paper Mix-Up, Blames Printing Error for Exam Cancellation
The Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) has issued an official clarification regarding the cancellation and subsequent rescheduling of the General Studies Paper-III and Paper-IV of the Manipur Civil Services Combined Competitive (Mains) Examination 2022.
In the clarification notice released today, the Commission confirmed that the error occurred due to a printing mistake at the Secured Printing Press, which resulted in a mismatch between the heading and the content of the question paper for Paper-IV (General Studies-III). The issue came to light only after the sealed question papers were opened inside the examination hall, moments before the test was set to begin.
The MPSC explained that such an error could not have been detected earlier as no official is permitted to access or review question papers before the examination in order to maintain strict confidentiality. “It is the endeavour of the MPSC to keep full confidentiality even at the risk of not being able to detect printing errors,” the notification stated.
Expressing regret over the inconvenience caused to candidates, the Commission assured that a strict warning has been issued to the Secured Press to prevent such lapses in the future.
As announced earlier, the rescheduled examinations for GS-III and GS-IV will be conducted on November 22, 2025 (Saturday), with the venues and e-Admit Cards remaining unchanged.
The clarification aims to address growing concerns among candidates following the unexpected paper mix-up that disrupted the final day of the three-day MCS Mains Examination 2022.
