Noney, November 10, 2025: The District Administration of Noney has imposed a complete ban on hunting, catching, killing, and selling of migratory birds, including the Amur Falcon locally known as “Akhuaipuina.” The order, issued by Additional District Magistrate Stiff Khapudang, follows a request from the Divisional Forest Officer to curb illegal hunting activities in the district.

The order also directs all residents to deposit their air guns with respective village authorities, including those from Longmai, Raengkhung, Awangkhul, Taobam, Khongsang, Rengpang, Nungba, Kambiron, Khumji, Nagaching, Kabui-Khullen, Puichi, Bakwa, Haochong, and other nearby areas.

The collected air guns are to be kept in custody until November 30, 2025, or until the last flock of Amur Falcons leaves the district. Reports on the collection are to be submitted by November 15, 2025. The administration warned that anyone found violating the order will face legal action under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
