High-Level Committees Formed to Strengthen Rehabilitation of IDPs in Manipur

The Government of Manipur has formed new State Level and District Level Committees to boost the rehabilitation and resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The committees have been set up with immediate effect to improve coordination, speed up decision-making, and ensure timely delivery of support to affected families.

The State Level Committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary and including senior officials from Finance, Home, and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, will guide overall policy and strategy. The Special or Additional Secretary (Home) will act as the Convenor. The committee is intended to bring unified decision-making and address broad challenges affecting rehabilitation efforts across the State.

At the district level, Deputy Commissioners will head the District Level Committees, supported by the Project Director (DRDA), the Additional Deputy Commissioner as Convenor, the CEO of the Zilla Parishad, and concerned SDOs. These committees will handle on-ground implementation, ensure field coordination, and provide feedback to the State Level Committee.

Both committees will oversee all rehabilitation and resettlement initiatives for IDPs, remove bottlenecks, and ensure that assistance reaches displaced families efficiently. The Government expects this structured mechanism to streamline processes and strengthen ongoing efforts to restore stability for affected communities.
