Fighting TB on the Frontlines: RIMS Leads Health Talk in Yurembam
The Department of Community Medicine, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted a health talk programme at the Youth Development Club, Yurembam Awing Leikai Community Hall, Imphal West, as part of its ongoing community outreach efforts.
The programme aimed to improve medical awareness and provide essential healthcare services to residents of remote and underserved areas with limited access to health facilities. The initiative was held under the supervision of Dr. Shantibala K, Head of the Department, and coordinated by Health Educator Shri Meghachandra.
Dr. Homendro Singh, District TB Officer, Imphal West, delivered a detailed talk on tuberculosis, stressing early detection, prevention, and timely treatment. Interns from the department followed with a session on TB symptoms, preventive measures, and treatment options under national health programmes.



As part of the outreach activity, attendees received free health check-ups, including urine protein and sugar tests, blood group testing, and free distribution of essential medicines. The event saw positive participation from the community.
The Department of Community Medicine, RIMS, continues to undertake similar initiatives to promote public health and expand preventive healthcare services across Manipur.
