Assam Rifles Extends Healthcare and Wellness Support in Kangpokpi District and Across Manipur

In a continued demonstration of its commitment to the welfare of Manipur, the Assam Rifles will organise a Medical Camp on October 7 at Presidency College, Motbung, in Kangpokpi District. The initiative aims to provide free medical consultations, essential medicines, and basic health check-ups to local residents, addressing their healthcare needs.

To support this effort, the Assam Rifles has partnered with the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which has deployed a team of 23 medical specialists from Maharashtra. These doctors, hailing from Nashik, Mumbai, and Pune, include experts in orthopaedics, gynaecology, general medicine, and primary healthcare. The team, equipped with essential medicines and diagnostic tools, arrived in Imphal on October 4 to take part in the initiative. This humanitarian effort reflects the Assam Rifles’ dedication to going beyond the call of duty to ensure quality medical care reaches communities in need.

In another initiative, the Khuga Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a comprehensive counselling and wellness session on October 5, focusing on emotional resilience, family bonding, and self-development. The session, attended by 74 participants including troops and their families, was led by noted counsellor and motivational speaker Mrs. Amrita Devehekar. Through interactive discussions, she encouraged participants to embrace mindfulness, communication, and continuous learning to enhance their personal and family well-being.

Meanwhile, the second day of the ongoing three-day Mega Medical Camp held across Chandel, Kakching, and Churachandpur districts saw thousands benefit from free healthcare services. In Joupi, Chandel District, more than 600 patients received consultations and medicines, while in Tuibong, Churachandpur, over 1,400 individuals — including 150 pregnant women — were provided with medical assistance and screening. At Pallel in Kakching District, the event included an Ex-Servicemen Outreach Programme attended by 55 veterans.

Across all locations, mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walking sticks, and lumbar belts were distributed to differently-abled and elderly persons.

The collective effort of over 100 officials, troops, and volunteers showcased the Assam Rifles’ enduring spirit of compassion and its role as the “Sentinels of the North East,” dedicated to serving communities with empathy and care.
