Martyrs’ Day Observed in Kamjong District

Martyrs’ Day was solemnly observed in Kamjong District to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and all martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation. The observance was held at the Kamjong District Camp Office, 2nd MR Complex, Imphal, where floral tributes were offered as a mark of respect.

Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong, Shri Luckyson Ngamsha Kashung, led the tribute ceremony in the presence of Superintendent of Police, Kamjong, Shri Rocky Thalu, along with district-level officers and staff of various departments.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that Martyrs’ Day serves as a reminder of the supreme sacrifices made for the unity, sovereignty and freedom of the country. He also recalled the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, stressing that the principles of truth, non-violence and moral courage continue to guide responsible citizenship.

The day marks the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated on January 30, 1948, and the observance reaffirmed commitment to his message of peace and non-violence.
